Second Chances Chocolate Chip Cookies

Second Chances Chocolate Chip Cookies

Second Chances is the story of Blythe Alexander, a young woman whose life is suddenly turned upside down when she discovers that her fiance is cheating on her. She leaves everything that's familiar behind and begins again, returning to her hometown of Fredericksburg, South Carolina where she turns her grandmother's old Victorian into the Alexander Inn, a bed and breakfast, reconnects with her childhood sweetheart, Alec Harmon, the local sheriff, and fights off the bad guys who want something from her. She also loves to make chocolate chip cookies, as do I. Here's my recipe and her's.
Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 cups whole wheat pastry flour (I use Bob's Red Mill)
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/4 cup whole milk (I use local Happy Cow)
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

In a bowl, mix butter and sugars. Add eggs, milk, and vanilla. In a separate bowl, whisk together dry ingredients and add to butter mixture. Stir in chocolate chips.
Drop by tablespoon (I use a small ice cream scoop) onto parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake @ 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes or to desired doneness.
Cool on a wire rack.
Makes approximately 3 dozen.

Enjoy!
