Ten for a Bird Pizza

Ten for a Bird Pizza

Ten for a Bird is the story of violinist and journalist Willow Morgan. Willow has just had a recent article published on the topic of psychopaths. Her best friend and fellow violinist, Pearl Whistler, has just been murdered,  in fact several of her fellow violinists have, and Willow wants to find the killer. But because Willow is so closely guarded by her overprotective brother, the local police chief, she needs the help of the very enticing private detective, Nate Parker, who's just arrived on her island home off of Virginia's coast.
On the last night Willow sees Pearl alive, the two share one of her friend's favorite dinners of pizza, salad, and wine.
Homemade pizza is one of my favorite dinners to make every Friday night for my family. Here's my recipe.
Enjoy!

Ten for a Bird Pizza

Whole wheat pizza crust ( I make mine using a bread machine ):
Makes 2 pizzas.
2 cups whole wheat flour ( I use King Arthur )
1 cup bread flour ( also King Arthur )
1 1/4 cup warm water
1/4 cup olive oil
2 1/2 tsp dry yeast
1 tbsp organic sugar
Follow bread machine instructions for pizza dough.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Let the dough rest for 30 minutes before cutting in half on a lightly floured surface. Brush two baking sheets with olive oil and using finger tips, spread dough onto pans.
Pre-bake crusts for 6 minutes.
Remove from oven and add tomato sauce*, mozzarella cheese, cheddar cheese, cooked ground turkey**, sliced black olive, sliced sweet onions.
Bake pizzas for 12-15 minutes.
Slice and enjoy! You deserve it!

*Tomato Sauce:
In a bowl, to a 12 oz. can tomato sauce, add fresh sweet basil, minced garlic, and salt, to taste.

**Turkey Topping:
Fry one pound of ground turkey in a non-stick skillet.
Add ground fennel, minced garlic, and salt, to taste
